<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee protecting airbag device capable of restraining a projecting volume and a projecting speed backward of a vehicle at an early stage of inflating an airbag, and smoothly protecting the knee of a driver by an airbag whose inflation is completed. <P>SOLUTION: This knee protecting airbag device S has an airbag 26 folded and housed on a bottom side of a column cover 8. An airbag 26 is mounted on a housing portion 13 using an inflator 18 at a column cover side wall portion arranged on the column cover 8 side at the completion of inflation. The airbag 26 is folded and housed with forward and backward width dimension reduced by inserting a portion 32a near a boundary of a column cover side wall 29 positioned at the front of the inflator 18 and a driver side wall 28 at the completion of inflation between the inflator 18 and the driver side wall 28. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
