PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method for stabilizing and maintaining density and gloss while suppressing fog, toner splashing, cleaning failure, filming and dot-like defects through repeated use. SOLUTION: The image forming method comprises bringing a developer carrier into contact with through a developer or directly the surface of an electrostatic latent image carrier and developing an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the electrostatic latent image carrier with a developer carried by the developer carrier, and the method is characterized in that: the developer carrier has an effective resistance of 1×106to 1×1011Ωand ten-point surface average roughness Rz of 6μm to 12μm; the developer is a nonmagnetic single component developer that contains toner particles containing at least a colorant and a resin essentially comprising polyester and shows an aggregation degree of 20 to 60; the toner particles are obtained by an emulsion polymerization aggregation method including at least an emulsion polymerization process, an aggregation process and an ageing process.
