PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To equate the color appearance of a picture on an input device in a transmission side with that of an image on the output device in a reception side. SOLUTION: RGB data outputted from a transmission-side CRT monitor 3 is converted by a profile P1stored in a converter 11 into XYZ data. A viewing-environment conversion circuit 12 makes correction processing to the XYZ data, in accordance with viewing environments in the transmission side by referring to the detection signals from sensors S1, S2, and outputs thereof as L+M+S+data. A viewing-environment conversion circuit 15 makes correction processing to the L+M+S+data, in accordance with viewing environments in the reception side, by referring to the detection signals from sensors S3, S4, and supplies the obtained XYZ data to a converter 16.
