PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing steel cord corresponding to a tire specification in an inexpensive cost. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method for producing steel cord 10 for reinforcing material of tire comprising following steps, gripping a plurality of element wires 1 by a pair of chucks 3a, 3b and a third chuck 3c installed in the center part of the chucks 3a and 3b, forming steel cord 7 by twisting the plurality of element wires 1 by rotating the chuck 3c, removing remaining stress of twisting by reversely rotating the chuck 3c and then pulling out the steel cords from between chucks 3a and 3b by a take up roller 4, cutting the steel cords at the point gripped by the chucks, and repeating the steps.
