PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device enabling stable paper ejecting operation regardless of details of printing requirements and a method for ejecting paper in the device, improving staking performance of ejected paper on a paper ejecting tray and having a good paper ejecting condition and good working efficiency. SOLUTION: This image forming device 1A is provided with an image forming part 14 having a photoconductor drum 3 on which a developer image is formed by a developer and transferring the developer image on the surface of the photoconductor drum 3 to a paper sheet P, a fixation unit 6 for fixing the developer image transferred on the paper sheet P, and a paper carrying device 7 for ejecting the paper sheet P to the paper ejecting tray 9 after developer image fixation processing is applied, and performs image output in accordance with printing requirements. The paper carrying device 7 has a function to selectively control the carrying speed of the paper sheet P in accordance with the printing requirement, based on the carrying speed of the paper sheet P corresponding to a plurality of preset discharge processing modes.
