A small coin-shaped electric double layer capacitor exhibiting excellent electric performance. The electric double layer capacitor comprises a plurality of pair electrodes (16, 17) impregnated with a liquid electrolyte and stacked in series, an ion permeable separator (3) provided between the electrodes (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) constituting each of the pair electrodes (16, 17), a conductive and ion impermeable intermediate plate (15) provided between two adjacent pair electrodes (16, 17), and a case (11) for containing the plurality of pair electrodes (16, 17), the separator (3), and the intermediate plate (15). |
