Method for determining the temperature of a coolant in a coolant circulation system with a coolant flow regulation valve. The valve has a housing and expansion element that regulates the flow in a temperature- dependent manner. According to the method, the resistance of the expansion element is measured and the temperature is determined by correlating the measured resistance with the coolant temperature.
