A system for notifying a user of a position of a remote controller and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to easily find the position of the remote controller without much time by displaying information on the position of the remote controller on a screen or making the remote controller itself generate a beep. A system for notifying a user of a position of a remote controller comprises a key inputting unit(320), a wireless transceiver(310), a position tracer(180), a controller(190) and a display unit(150). The key inputting unit includes a remote controller finding button. The wireless transceiver transmits a position notifying request signal to the remote controller in response to selection of the remote controller finding button. The position tracer traces the position of the remote controller by using the signal outputted by the remote controller in response to the position notifying request signal. The controller controls tracing the position of the remote controller in response to the selection of the remote controller finding button, and displaying the traced position information of the remote controller on a screen. The display unit displays the traced position information of the remote controller according to the control of the controller.
