PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain auxiliary light emitting device for a photographing device, which is capable of effectively using a light source that emits auxiliary light toward a subject. SOLUTION: The color liquid crystal panel 60 is disposed on the optical path of auxiliary light emitted toward a subject by the light source of a strobe part 44 and is capable of displaying an arbitrary image at predetermined resolution. A CPU 40 controls the color liquid crystal panel 60 via a liquid crystal control section 62 so that a display image is switched according to use indicated by use information input via an operation part 56.
