PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assisting tool enabling the observation of the state of a cell by illuminating the cell attached to a cell attaching face of a cell culture support. SOLUTION: The assisting tool 60a is used for the observation of the state of a cell 40 from the upper side of a cell culture pellet 1 by applying light from the bottom of a cavity (well) 20 to the cell culture pellet (support) 1 placed in the well 20 directing the cell attaching face 2 having the attached cell 40 upward. The tool is provided with a light-guiding means to guide a part of light to the cell attaching face 2 in the case of applying light from the bottom of the well 20 in a state placing the cell culture pellet 1 in the well 20 and the assisting tool 60a around the cell culture pellet 1. The light-guiding means is preferably composed of a reflection face 68 positioned on the outer circumference of the cell culture pellet 1 and above the cell attaching face 2.
