PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger in which data, can be rewritten, e.g. backup, easily for every kind of data between the charger and a portable communication terminal. SOLUTION: When a backup mode is selected, a CPU 17 stores data in a built-in memory of a portable telephone 2 in a RAM 16 through a data terminal 11. The CPU 17 compares backup target data stored in the RAM 16 with data of a corresponding kind data region 21 in an HDD 20 and if the kind data for backup of the RAM 16 does not exist in the HDD 20, copies the kind data in the kind region 21 of the HDD 20. When the kind data exists in the kind region 21 of the HDD 20, data of the kind region 21 is copied to the backup region 22 of the HDD 20 if the kind data is different from the data of the RAM 16, and the data of the kind in the kind region 21 is rewritten to the kind data of the RAM 16.
