PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reading device for reading image information, even on an original sheet whose size is larger than the size of an original stand. SOLUTION: An original sheet 9 placed on an ADF by a user is conveyed from one end side to the other end side in the lateral direction of an original stand 6 by an original sheet conveyance roller 8. A reading head 3 is fixed at the home position. When the start end side of the conveyance direction of the original sheet 9 is detected, the reading of image information on the original sheet 9 is performed by each line by a CCD 7. The read image information is output to a controller 2.
