PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact type position sensor capable of reducing space and cost, and retracting easily a plunger shaft by application and release of compressed air. SOLUTION: Since a contact type position sensor is used, and an air cylinder is provided outside, when the plunger shaft is required to be retracted, a space is required hitherto. Accordingly, in this sensor, a retracting function is built inside, and automatization is realized by utilizing the air pressure. The sensor has an energization function of a contact force by the air pressure, and each function of locking, dividing and overhanging other than the retracting function by utilizing an operation signal. The measuring plunger shaft can be pushed out and retracted automatically by an air cylinder function built in the sensor body, and the space and the cost can be reduced, and the accuracy can be improved. Since the contact force is applied by the compressed air, a change can be performed easily and constantly. In addition, the compressed air pressure is controlled by using a position detection signal, and actuator functions, such as dividing of a detection body, locking or overhanging, can be provided.
