PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auscultation rod that does not damage an auscultation function, has a simple structure, is easily used, and has a function for easily detecting a steam leak location. SOLUTION: In the auscultation rod, one end of a slender bar-like body 2 is made to have a tapered shape, the other end thereof has an ear pad section 5, the tapered shape section 3 is butted on a detected section, the ear pad section 5 is butted on the ear, and the vibration of the detected section is detected as a sound. The auscultation rod has a temperature indicating material 6 for varying the color in response to the temperature near the tapered shape section 3. The proximity of the tapered shape section 3 of the auscultation rod 1 is guided to the proximity of a steam leak location, and the steam leak location is detected from the variation of the color of the temperature indicating material 6 provided in the auscultation rod 1.
