PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate type heat exchanger capable of suppressing local thermal stress in a portion of an inflow passage neighborhood even when heat of a heating medium acts on the inflow passage neighborhood receiving inflow of the heating medium, and capable of preventing local cracking in the inflow passage neighborhood receiving the inflow of the heating medium. SOLUTION: In the plate type heat exchanger, a first space for communicating the heating medium between a plurality of laminated heat transfer plates, and a second space for communicating an object to be subjected to heat exchange, are alternately formed with each heat transfer plate in between. By connecting openings formed in each heat transfer plate, first inflow passages and first outflow passages are formed to carry out outflow and inflow of the heating medium with respect to the first space, second inflow passages and second outflow passage are formed to carry out outflow and inflow of the object to be subjected to heat exchange with respect to the second space, and the first spaces and the second spaces are airtightly or fluid-tightly partitioned by welding the heat transfer plates. It is characterized in that the second space is provided with a main passage formed between the second inflow passage and the second outflow passage, and a bypass passage formed between an outer circumference of the first inflow passage and a heat transfer plate outer circumferential rim so as to connect the second inflow passage with the main passage.
