PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for controlling cooling processing and defrosting processing while properly maintaining the quality of a commodity displayed in a showcase until the passage of a use-by date. SOLUTION: The controller 20 is a controller for controlling the cooling processing for cooling the commodity 11 and the defrosting processing for removing generated frost, and is characterized in that it is provided with a temperature detecting part 22 detecting a temperature of the commodity 11, a calculation part 23 calculating a K value of the commodity 11 by the temperature detecting part 22 when the use-by date is passed on the basis of a K value of the commodity 11 at the start of displaying, the temperature detected by the temperature detecting part 22, and a relationship between predetermined detection temperatures by the temperature detecting part 22 and temporal variations of the K value of the commodity 11, and a cooler control part 26 controlling the cooling processing and the defrosting processing such that the K value calculated by the calculation part 23 is within a predetermined tolerance.
