PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sealing performance of a gasket by increasing sealing pressure at a position far from a fastening section with a simple structure without increasing number of components in an internal combustion engine having a cylinder head and a cylinder head cover fastened via the gasket. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine E is provided with the cylinder head cover 3 fastened to the cylinder head by bolts 51, 52 and the gasket 40 put between the cylinder head 2 and the cylinder head cover 3 in a fastening direction of the bolts 51, 52. Height of the gasket in a free condition continuously gets larger as it goes away from the bolts 51, 52. Consequently, height of the gasket 40 is larger in a far region Rb far from the bolts 51, 52 as compared to a near region Ra near to the bolts 51, 52 on seal surfaces 20, 30.
