PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake control device for a shutter simple in constitution and capable of quickly returning a brake when the brake is returned. SOLUTION: The brake control device for the shutter comprises a motor 14 and a slider moving between two positions which are a release position of the brake and an operating position of the brake according to the rotation of the motor 14. A non-excitation operated type electromagnetic clutch 16 is provided between the motor 14 and the slider. The electromagnetic clutch 16 connects the motor 14 and the slider when the brake is release-operated and maintains release, and places the slider in the release position of the brake to lower the shutter by its own weight. Since the electromagnetic clutch 16 releases connection between the motor 14 and the slider by a stop signal, the slider is returned into the operating position of the brake.
