PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating device for restraining fixing failure of a developer image on a recording material, resulting from insufficient power, even when the lighting duty ratio of at least two or more heat generating bodies of a heating source is switched so that the maximum amount of heat generation is decreased. SOLUTION: The heating device heat-fixes a developer image T on a recording material P with the developer image T carried thereon while holding and conveying the recording material in a nip N device, wherein when the lighting duty ratio of a second heat generating element to a first heat generating element, among at least two heat generating element 8b1 and 8b2 of the heating source 8, is switched during the consecutive conveyance of the recording material so that the maximum amount of heat generation is decreased, the lighting rate of the first heat generating element at a predetermined timing is made lower than a predetermined value.
