PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect, by a simple structure, whether a human such as a child exists in a dead-angle zone of a driver in front of or behind a vehicle. SOLUTION: Human body detection sensors 13 and 14 are placed in front of or behind the vehicle 11, wherein a plurality of thermopile elements 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26 are disposed like an array in a plurality of rows and columns so as to be spaced apart horizontally and vertically from each other by a prescribed distance. The detection sensors 13 and 14 each form a unit together with a Cassegrainian optical system 40 that condenses infrared light from a human body 17, and detect the human body 17 based on output patterns obtained by detecting the infrared light from the human body 17 by each of the thermopile elements 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26.
