PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact electromagnetic relay capable of easily arranging to mount a surge absorbing element. SOLUTION: In the electromagnetic relay provided with a bobbin 21 equipped with a coil-winding body part 21c as well as a flange part having a terminal-mounting part 22, a coil 27 wound around the coil-winding body part and connected to a pair of coil terminals 25, 25 with either end mounted on terminal mounting parts of the bobbin, and a surge-absorbing element 38 with a pair of lead parts 38a, 38a connected to the pair of coil terminals, a mounting wall 22a of the terminal mounting part is erected on the flange part 21a, at right and left sides of which, a terminal retaining part 23 is provided for retaining the pair of coil terminals, a pair of lead parts of the surge-absorbing element is pressure-contacted to each pressure contact part 25b of the pair of coil terminals, so that the surge-absorbing element is free to be placed anywhere between the pair of coil terminals.
