PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "method of detecting abnormality in disk transportation", which is capable of surely deciding whether the disk transportation is normally carried out or not and also preventing a loading mistake, chucking mistake, dropping of the disk, etc. SOLUTION: The method includes following steps: a step for transporting the disk to a tray of a disk housing section by a transfer unit when the disk is detected by an inserting port photo-sensor; a step for detecting whether the disk is mounted on a tray or not; a step for chucking the disk to a drive unit; a step for detecting existence of the disk by the inserting port photo-sensor after completion of the chucking; and a step for deciding that the transportation of the disk is abnormal when the disk is detected by the inserting port photo-sensor.
