PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flying head slider which can make the write head element and the read head element sufficiently close to a magnetic disk. SOLUTION: A first deformable actuator 65 is close to the write head element 47, and a second deformable actuator 66 is close to the read head element 48. The first deformable actuator 65 projects the write head element 47 from the surface 32 facing the medium, and the second deformable actuator 46 the readout head element 48 from the surface 32 facing the medium. The first and second deformable actuators 65, 66 are individually controlled. Thus, the projection quantity of the write head element 47 and the readout head element 48 can be individually controlled. The floating heights of the write head element 47 and the readout head element 48 can be individually set. By adjusting the floating heights as above, the write head element 47 and the readout head element 48 can approach closest to the recording medium 14 at the same time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
