PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable rotary compressor which is provided with an overload avoiding mechanism for avoiding overload of liquid compression or the like, and reduced in cost and downsized without comprising an accumulator. SOLUTION: The rotary compressor is provided with: a cylinder having a cylinder upper plate and a cylinder lower plate attached thereon; a fixed shaft attached on the cylinder lower plate; a drive shaft bearing member rotatably attached to the fixed shaft and including an eccentric crank shaft part; and an overload avoiding mechanism for avoiding overload by eccentrically rotating a roller by rotation of the drive shaft bearing member via a crank shaft part, by compressing fluid in a working chamber and by moving the cylinder upper plate by abnormal pressure in the working chamber.
