PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost without manufacturing a special temporary coffering member. SOLUTION: A temporary cofferdam 1 provided to surround a bridge pier is provided with a coffering wall 20 formed by annularly connecting a plurality of steel sheet piles 21, and a foot protection part which fixes the lower end of the coffering wall 20 onto a footing of the bridge pier 10. First and second sheet pile units 22, 23 formed by circumferentially dividing the coffering wall 20 are respectively assembled beforehand on a pontoon 50 and held to the pontoon 50. The sheet pile units 22, 23 are respectively sunk into predetermined places, and the first and second sheet pile units 22, 23 are joined to each other in the water to form the coffering wall 20.
