PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device where security is enhanced by storing protected data in a boot drive. SOLUTION: The data storage device comprises: a storage medium having two or more physical memory locations referenced through a logical block address; and a secure section which has a table including at least one range of the logical block address and which specifies one or more functions applied to the logical block address by an authorized entity.
