PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which enables accurate exposure control during still picture shooting. SOLUTION: This imaging apparatus is capable of taking a still picture, and calculating an amount of exposure based on current exposure control via a control circuit 107 when a shutter button 110 is pressed. In addition, it determines an amount of exposure during still picture shooting based on a calculation result obtained during moving picture shooting, and executes exposure control via a mechanical shutter control circuit 108 and an imaging element driving circuit 109.
