PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small crystal oscillator with improved capacity ratio and a voltage control type oscillator with a wide frequency variable range. SOLUTION: The crystal oscillator is constituted by depositing excitation electrodes 2a, 2b on both sides of a rectangle plate-like AT cut crystal substrate 1 via a mask by using a vacuum deposition method and spattering, etc. and providing a plurality of notches 2c at a part of peripheral parts of each of the exciting electrodes 2a, 2b and constituted so that the notches 2c on the side of the excitation electrode 2a and the notches 2d on the side of the excitation electrode 2b do not approximately face each other.
