PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of deactivating the remaining catalyst in the polyester polymerization reaction in the method for producing a polyester resin comprising deactivating the polymerization catalyst (A) with a deactivating agent after the polyester polymerization reaction. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a polyester resin comprising deactivating the polymerization catalyst (A) with a deactivating agent after the polyester polymerization reaction, the remaining catalyst can be completely deactivated by simultaneously using at least one deactivating agent (B) selected from a phosphoric ester, a metal phosphate, and an aluminum compound, and water.
