PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo press provided with a testing function capable of more correctly discriminating brake performance in case of an emergency stop. SOLUTION: The servo press 1 performs the following brake performance testing as a series of operations: (a) the start of a test; (b) the drop of a slide at a prescribed speed; (c) an emergency stop signal command; (d) the operation of an electric brake and a mechanical brake; (e) the measurement of a time (stop time) from (c) to the stop of the slide and/or the calculation of the travel distance from the (c) to the stop of the slide; (f) a decision whether the stop time and/or travel is good or not; (g) practicing of the (b) to (e) only by operating an electric brake or mechanical brake when defects are decided in the (f); (h) the decision whether the stop time and/or travel is good or not for each brake; and (i) the display of the decided results. Since the servo press body is provided with a sequence for performing brake performance testing, there is no need of entrusting emergency stop confirmation inspection to inspection institutions, and the inspection can be performed in accordance with the convenience of working.
