<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change recording medium capable of performing recording higher in density than before, and to provide the high-density recording medium capable of recording/rewriting at high speed. <P>SOLUTION: The phase change recording medium, capable of reversibly recording or erasing using light, consists of a substrate, a recording film capable of reversibly changing atomic arrangement, a film having a crystallization promotion function contacting the recording film, a protective film or a dielectric film for protecting the recording film, and a reflective film to reflect the light.
