<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause no distortion in an OSD image, and to use an OSD generation part of a small scale. <P>SOLUTION: A single screen of such video format as an input video signal has is divided into a plurality of sections, depending on the size of OSD image generated by an OSD generator. At the OSD generator, a plurality of OSD images are generated per a single screen of the input video signal, which are allocated to individual split screens.
