PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television in which inconvenience caused by radiation of light involved in video display can be eliminated. SOLUTION: The television includes: a display section 17, and a control section for controlling the display section 17, when an instruction operation for instructing the display section 17 to start display of a video image P (e.g. an operation applied to a power key of a remote controller) and a prescribed first operation (e.g. an operation applied to a DOWN key of the remote controller) are executed, the control section executes partial region display processing in which the video image P is displayed on a part region Ap of a full display region Aa of the display section 17.
