PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aerofoil for a gas turbine allowed to damp vibration and having a cell-like material so disposed in a cavity that the cavity can be formed and the aerofoil can be reinforced and a vibration damping medium so disposed in the cavity that the vibration of the aerofoil can be damped. SOLUTION: This aerofoil 26 for the gas turbine engine comprises the cavity 38, the cell-like material 42 so disposed in the cavity 38 that the aerofoil 26 can be reinforced, and the vibration damping medium 44 so disposed in the cavity 38 that the vibration of the aerofoil can be damped. The cell-like material 42 is desirably made of a metal foam material joined to the inner surfaces 34a, 36a of the hollow aerofoil 26.
