PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a landmark name retrieval system which retrieves a corresponding landmark name from a database which is constructed by newly registering or updating and registering position information and a landmark by a user, based upon the position information, and to provide a high-precision retrieval program using the database. SOLUTION: As for a registering function, a terminal device transmits photography position information acquired from an image file and a landmark name that a user inputs, to a server, which relates and registers the received position information and landmark name in the database. As for a retrieving function, the terminal device transmits photography position information to the server, which retrieves one or more landmark names by the high-precision retrieval program based upon the received position information and transmits them to the terminal device.
