PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the smooth movement of a control shaft by reducing the resistance of the control shaft from a lubricating oil when the control shaft is moved while effectively lubricating component parts moving relative to each other in a variable valve gear mechanism of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This variable valve gear mechanism 30 comprises a hollow rocker shaft (support shaft) 31, a control shaft 32 disposed in the rocker shaft 31 movably in the axial direction, and a variable valve lift mechanism 40 disposed on the rocker shaft 31. A lubricating oil is supplied between the component parts of the variable valve gear mechanism 30 moving relative to each other, for example, between the rocker shaft 31 and the control shaft 32.
