PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod having a high stability in the case of gripping a reel mounting portion by a hand and operating it. SOLUTION: The fishing rod is equipped with the reel mounting portion 12 which is furnished with a reel mounting main body portion 12H at the outside at a proper position in the length direction of a rod 10 made of a fiber-reinforced synthetic resin, a reel leg placing portion 12S on the outer periphery of the reel mounting main body portion and a stationary hood F1 and a movable hood F2 opposingly arranged at the front and the rear of the reel leg placing portion, a trigger T is formed on a hood located behind and at the opposite side in the radial direction of the reel leg placing portion side and a projection portion T' which has a height H2 measured from the center of the rod lower than the height H1 of the trigger and is latched by fingers is arranged between both the hoods and at the opposite side in the radial direction of the reel leg placing portion.
