<p>Protective clothing (10), such as a shin guard, has a semi-rigid elongate pad (11) with a sleeve (12) of an elastic material secured to one end of the pad (11). The sleeve (12) has a length at least equal to that of the pad (11). The pad (11 ) is curved laterally of its length, and the sleeve (12) is disposed to that side of the pad (11) that is concave. The pad (11) and the sleeve (12) have substantially the same radius of curvature. The pad (11) is of a rubber or plastics material. The pad (11) has longitudinally extending grooves (15) to provide a degree of lateral flexibility to the pad (11), and a longitudinally extending stiffening rib (16) is disposed centrally within the pad (11). With the pad (11) placed against the leg (21), or other body part to be protected, the sleeve (12) is rolled over the pad (11 ) and leg (21) to retain the pad (11 ) in position and give compression and support to the leg (21).</p> |
