PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce whirl noise radiated from an exhaust gas outlet of an exhaust system in an internal combustion engine having a turbocharger of a structure supporting a turbine shaft by a floating bush bearing mounted thereon. SOLUTION: A muffling device 1 consists of a muffler 2 including a volume part 21 functioning as a resonance chamber and an opening part 22 establishing communication an inside of the exhaust gas passage of the exhaust system 300 and an inside of the volume part 21, and capable of adapting muffling characteristics to frequency of self-excited oscillation of a turbine shaft, and gaskets 3, 4 securing sealing performance of a flange connection part of the exhaust system. The muffling device 1 is built in the exhaust system 300 of the engine 100 having the turbocharger 200 built therein. Consequently, whirl noise generated by self-excited oscillation of the turbine shaft of the turbocharger 200 can be reduced by being radiated from an exhaust port of the exhaust system 300.
