PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing bicalutamide or its analog which is useful as a prostatic hypertrophy therapeutic agent (an anti-androgenic agent) or other pharmaceutical intermediates and is in the form of a racemic body or an optically active substance. SOLUTION: The production method of bicalutamide or its analog comprises reacting a compound represented by formula (II) with a compound represented by formula (III) in the presence of a condensation agent and tetrahydrofuran as a solvent. Thus, the generation of by-products is avoided and bicalutamide or its analog can be obtained efficiently. Bicalutamide or its analog thus obtained is useful as a prostatic hypertrophy therapeutic agent (an anti-androgenic agent) or other pharmaceutical intermediates. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
