PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production of spherical inorganic particles which have high flowability and high filling capability as a filler for encapsulating materials and by which encapsulating materials having high electrical insulation can be obtained. SOLUTION: The method for production of spherical glass powder includes: a process for pulverizing a silicon oxide-containing glassy substance to form a pulverized material; a process for spheroidizing the pulverized material by heating in a floating state to form a spheroidized material; and a process for acid-treating by bringing the spheroidized material into contact with an acid.
