PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device to carry in/out thin glass plates (plate materials) used for manufacturing liquid crystal panels with respect to storage shelves, capable of carrying in/out a plurality of plate materials with respect to storage shelves with different pitches by switching holding pitches when the plurality of plate materials are held and carried all together. SOLUTION: Second to fifth holding plates 32a to 35a for holding plate materials are supported movably to the plate thickness direction so as to be mutually independent of a first holding plate 31a, and a common lever piece 40a is engaged with the second to fifth holding plates 32a to 35a. By using vertical displacement components obtained by tilting operation of the lever piece 40a along with extension/contraction operation of a working cylinder 50, intervals between the second to fifth holding plates 32a to 35a are changed.
