The device has a regeneration unit (110) to produce a regenerated address (X`) based on an output address (Y) from a 1 to n decoder. The regenerated address is same as an input address (X) when the conversion of the input address into the output address is effected in an error free manner. A comparing unit (140) receives the input and regenerated addresses and outputs a signal based on a comparison of the input and regenerated addresses. The signal displays an error during the conversion of the input address, when the input address and the regenerated address do not coincide. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an address decoder for converting an input address into an output address, and comprising an error detection device (2) a method of error detection for an address decoder (3) a computer program with a program code to execute a method of error detection for an address decoder, when the program run on a computer.
