A bidirectional WDM-PON(Wavelength Division Multiplexed Passive Optical Network) system using an AWG(Arrayed Waveguide Grating) is provided to reduce a price of an optical source and to simplify a network while minimizing a signal loss in a link and enhancing the efficiency in using wavelength. A bidirectional WDM-PON(Wavelength Division Multiplexed Passive Optical Network) system using an AWG(Arrayed Waveguide Grating) comprises the first AWG(202), the first circulator(203), the second AWG(232) and the second circulator(231). The first AWG(202) multiplexes/demultiplexes plural downlink signals, resulted from electricity-light conversion at a central base station, and uplink signals received from optical terminating units via an optical fiber, into optical signals whose wavelengths are different for each subscriber while the wavelength of the uplink signal is different from that of the downlink signal with respect to each subscriber. The first circulator(203) separates the downlink signal, multiplexed by the first AWG(202) from the uplink signal received via the optical fiber, and performs downlink transmission of the separated signal via the optical fiber or uplink transmission of the separated signal to the first AWG(202). The second AWG(232) multiplexes/demultiplexes downlink signals, generated at plural optical terminating units and uplink signals received via an optical fiber, into optical signals whose wavelengths are different for each subscriber while the wavelength of the uplink signal is different from that of the downlink signal with respect to each subscriber. The second circulator(231) separates the downlink signal, received via the optical fiber, from the uplink signal, multiplexed by the first AWG(202) and performs downlink transmission of the separated signal to the second AWG(232) or uplink transmission via the optical fiber.
