PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a quarts crystal unit having a crystal unit excellent in electric characteristics, the crystal unit including a tuning-fork-shaped flexural mode quarts crystal resonator, a case that houses the resonator, and a lid for sealing the opening of the case. SOLUTION: Grooves are formed including the central line at the upper and lower surfaces of near central portions for each tuning fork tine, and electrodes are disposed inside the grooves and on the side of each tine. As a result, there can be attained an improved electro-mechanical conversion efficiency, a small equivalent series resistance R1 and a high Q factor, and thus a quartz crystal unit including the extremely small tuning-fork-shaped flexural mode quartz crystal resonator with a small space ratio can be obtained.
