PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital data receiver such as a digital TV receiver in which a judgment can be made whether digital TV broadcasting is performed or not in a short time. SOLUTION: A digital data receiver 100 comprises a tuner 10, an analog TV detector 20 for detecting existence of an analog TV broadcasting signal based on the reception signal of a channel tuned at the tuner, and a control unit 40 for judging that a digital TV broadcasting signal does not exist on the channel tuned at the tuner when the analog TV broadcasting signal is detected at the analog TV detector.
