PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for rapidly and effectively removing a predetermined resin that coats the surface of a magnetic material without giving any adverse influence on the characteristics of the magnetic material constituting a carrier, and to provide a method for advantageously recycling the carrier by taking out the magnetic material with the coating resin removed from the carrier, reusing the magnetic material as it is and again coating the surface with a predetermined resin. SOLUTION: The carrier comprising a magnetic material the surface of which is coated with a predetermined resin layer is brought into contact with sub-critical water containing hydrogen peroxide at a temperature of 280°C or lower and a pressure of at least 0.1 MPa or more so as to remove the resin that coats the surface of the magnetic material of the carrier. The magnetic material with the coating resin layer removed is used as it is, and a predetermined resin is applied on the surface of the magnetic material to obtain a desired carrier.
