PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a silica-based filler capable of maintaining high adsorption/desorption capability of silica and restraining pressure applied in liquid leakage or venting to a relatively low level. SOLUTION: After passing through a process for adding a template compound to an acid solution for dissolution, then adding water glass for gelling the solution, and forming a silica gel, a process for grinding the silica gel for treatment by a basic solution, or treating the silica gel by the basic solution before crushing, and a process for baking the ground silica gel in the manufacturing method of the silica-based filler; a granular silica-based filler having a double-pore structure, where a through pore that can be separated speedily is introduced to a silica material with the water glass as a raw material, is obtained in addition to a mesopore capable of a high-performance analysis.
