PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide paper for optical reading with two-dimensional bar code printability through preventing developing curls and generating paper dust. SOLUTION: The paper for optical reading is obtained by coating at least one side of both the obverse and reverse sides of a substrate paper followed by drying and then subjecting the coated surface to flattening treatment so as to be 3.5-5.5μm in PPS(Parker Print Surff) smoothness. In the paper, the substrate paper comprises pulp with an average fiber length of 0.4-0.9 mm and a talc-based inorganic filler with an average particle size of 10μm or smaller.
