<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need of oil on the sliding parts of a compressor. <P>SOLUTION: This sliding structure comprises a compression mechanism and a drive shaft coupled to the compression mechanism. The drive shaft is so supported that its main shaft part 21 is rotatably supported on a bearing 42. A graphite intermediate layer is formed on the surface of the base material of the main shaft part 21. A fullerene C60 sliding layer is formed on the surface of the intermediate layer.
